A REFORMA GREGORIANA E O DESPONTAR REPUBLICANO NO BAIXO MEDIEVO: CONSIDERAÇÕES E PONDERAÇÕES

Resumo

RESUMO: O presente trabalho busca analisar o despontar dos elementos republicanos no pensamento jusfilosófico e político do Medievo. Para isso, toma-se a Reforma Gregoriana como ponto de inflexão desse movimento que ganha forças, principalmente, entre os séculos XII e XV e marca, de maneira profunda, os rumos da filosofia e da história no Ocidente. Iniciam-se os estudos com a consolidação da Igreja Católica na Idade Média, de modo a compreender melhor o locus ocupado pela instituição na política e nos jogos de poder do período. Em seguida, analisa-se a Reforma Gregoriana e seus reflexos, identificando as leituras historiográficas, bem como a alteração de postura da Igreja Católica diante desse movimento de cunho universalista, o que passa a se comprovar por meio das fontes históricas. Por fim, analisa-se, no diálogo com o movimento da Reforma Gregoriana, a contribuição do Direito Canônico e dos Filósofos Medievais para a disseminação e popularização de uma matriz política de cunho republicanista. Assim, torna-se possível compreender e avaliar a importância da Reforma Gregoriana no emergir de ideais republicanos na Idade Média.

ABSTRACT: The work aims to analyze the appearance of republican elements in the political, philosophical and legal thought in the Middle Ages. For this, the Gregorian Reform is taken as an inflection point of this movement, which grows, mainly, between the XII e XV centuries and marks, deeply, the course of western philosophy and history. Firstly, we investigate the consolidation of Catholic Church in the Middle Ages, in order to comprehend the locus occupied by the institution in the politics and in the power games during the period. Furthermore, we examine the Gregorian Reform and its reflections, identifying the historiographical readings and the posture changes of the Catholic Church in this universalist movement, which is attested by historical sources of the period. Moreover, we analyze, in the dialogue with the Gregorian Reform, the Canon Law and the philosophers’ contribution to the dissemination and popularization of a republican politics matrix. In this way, it is possible to comprehend and value the Gregorian Reform plot in the emerge of republican ideas in the Middle Ages.
